Cutthroat Trout Anatomy T-Shirt
Vintage Fly Fishing Shirt · Native Trout Field Guide Tee
Description
Every native trout tells a story.
The Cutthroat Trout Anatomy Tee renders one of North America's most recognizable game fish as a field-guide illustration, drawn from classic fly-fishing artwork and vintage sporting prints.
The design
The cutthroat slash beneath the jaw. The lateral line, adipose fin, spotted tail, dorsal fin. Every feature illustrated to honor the fish that became a symbol of wild rivers across the American West. Traditional fly patterns, mountain peaks, flowing water, and heritage typography finish it out.
The subspecies
This one is the Yellowstone cutthroat, Oncorhynchus clarkii bouvieri, native to the Yellowstone and Snake River drainages across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.
You identify it by the spots. Large, rounded, and clustered toward the tail, sparse across the front of the body. The flank runs gold to brassy olive rather than the pink of a rainbow. The red slash under the jaw is the mark the whole species takes its name from.
It holds a fraction of the water it once did. Hybridization with stocked rainbow trout and lake trout predation in Yellowstone Lake are the two reasons most often given. Our cutthroat subspecies field guide covers where each one still lives.

About the Artwork
Every species design starts from reference. Photographs of the animal itself, and old field guide plates from the era when careful illustration was how a species got recorded.
That is why the markings sit where they sit. The spot pattern, the fin placement, the slash under a cutthroat's jaw. Get those wrong and anyone who has held the fish will know.
Premium Everyday Comfort
Printed on the Bella+Canvas 3001, a 4.2 oz tee made from Airlume combed, ring-spun cotton. Combing strips out the short, rough fibers before the yarn is spun, which is why the surface feels smoother than a standard tee. Solid colors are all cotton; the heathered and Asphalt shades blend in polyester. The lightest shirt in our lineup, an easy pick for warm days and layering. Retail fit, true to size.
Made to Last
Side-seamed rather than tubular: the panels are cut and sewn to shape, which is what gives this one its slight taper through the body. It is a different build from the Gildan 64000, not a better one. Pick this for a closer cut and that for a straighter one. Taped shoulders, tear-away label, and a fine 32-singles knit that holds print detail sharp. Wash cold, inside out. Tumble dry low.
